My Story
What is one thing about your work that most people don't know?
I think most people don't know how high the rates of Learning Disabilities, Trauma, and Emotional Behavioral Disorders are in impoverished areas. The number of students on a special education teacher's caseload grows in areas where there is more poverty.
What makes you most proud of the work you do?
I am proud to be helping students who are at a disadvantage. Seeing your peers progress in school while you fall behind is depressing, especially for a child. Helping kids set goals, apply themselves, and then progress in school is incredibly rewarding. It's great to see people overcome the odds against them. It gives me hope.
